About Mary Louise Garcia

A senior administrator on Sheriff’s Dee Anderson’s command staff for eight years, Mary Louise has been directly involved in staff decisions and works with senior managers and chief deputies in Tarrant County’s largest department.

With extensive experience keeping an eye on the bottom line, she conducts internal audits and implements countywide initiatives in the Sheriff’s Department and coordinates with other county departments. In addition, Mary Louise hires, trains and assigns clerical staff.

As a longtime county employee, Mary Louise knows that the County Clerk works for taxpayers and the need to make every dollar count.  And as a former business owner, she knows how to get the most out of a buck.

Before joining the sheriff’s command staff, she owned the Garcia Group, a public relations company serving a variety of businesses as well as:

  • The Fort Worth school district
  • Political clients, including Congresswoman Kay Granger.
  • And nonprofit groups such as the YMCA.

“I have always worked to make our county a better place to live by supporting civic organizations and volunteer groups as well as taking an active role in the Republican Party,” Mary Louise says. “My years in county government give me the experience as County Clerk to continue improving the quality of life in our community by delivering better services to all citizens for fewer tax dollars.”

Born in Tarrant County, she says her upbringing in a strong, tightly-knit family instilled in her the value of conservative principles, faith, hard work and the importance of giving back to her community. And she has been active in community groups for many years, including:

  • Board member, All Church Home for Children
  • Member, Ad Hoc Committee, Tarrant County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children
  • Chairperson and board member, Fort Worth Independent School District Human Relations Committee
  • Board member, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • Cook Children’s Physical Fitness Fair
  • Ad hoc member, Crime Prevention Resource Center
  • Volunteer, Nolan Catholic High School

Memberships include :

Mary Louise graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1984, joined the Republican Party and attended Tarrant County Junior College, the University of Texas at San Antonio and Texas Christian University.

Mary Louise is married to Chris Garcia, an independent businessman and vice president of the Southwest Republican Club. They have two daughters, Juliana, 18, a student at Cornell University, and Gabi, 17, a senior at Nolan Catholic High School.
