TEXAS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISTRICT 114 CANDIDATE, JASON VILLALBA ENDORSED BY HISPANIC REPUBLICANS OF TEXAS

AUSTIN, TX – Hispanic Republicans of Texas (HRT) has endorsed Jason Villalba, candidate for District 114 of the Texas House of Representatives.

“We are proud and excited to endorse Jason Villalba for the Texas House of Representatives,” said George Antuna, co-founder of the Hispanic Republicans of Texas. “Jason has proven to be a leader in the community and will be an excellent representative for Dallas in the Texas House.”

Hispanic leaders are disproportionately under-represented as elected officeholders especially as Republicans. Hispanic Republicans of Texas has been established to close the gap, build leadership within the Hispanic community and support those who are ready to serve as elected leaders of this state. The Hispanic Republicans of Texas sees a responsibility to, not only help other Hispanics, but most importantly, to serve the greatest state in our nation – Texas.

A fourth-generation Texan, Jason is a Dallas native. As the son of an airline mechanic, from an early age Jason was taught to work hard, study diligently, act with integrity and do what’s right. The first in his family to graduate from college, Jason worked his way through Baylor University where he studied Economics and Finance, then graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

As a former financial analyst and as a partner at one of Dallas’ most respected law firms, Jason has hands-on experience working with and advising growing businesses and start-ups and dealing with complex financial and corporate transactions.

An active member of the Dallas community for more than a decade, Jason currently serves on the development committee of the Dallas Zoo and is an active member of the Dallas Children’s Trust. Jason has served on the Board of the Dallas Housing Finance Corporation, as the appointee of City Councilmember Ann Margolin, and he has served as a member of the Dallas County Citizens Election Advisory Committee, as the appointee of County Commissioner Maurine Dickey.

Jason is the immediate past Vice-Chair of the Dallas County Republican Party and the current Chairman of the Dallas Chapter of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. In 2006 and 2010, Jason was named as a delegate to the Republican Party of Texas State Convention. (End)

Hispanic Republicans of Texas Endorse Susan McCoy for Judge

Today the Hispanic Republicans of Texas (HRT) announced its endorsement of Susan McCoy’s campaign for State District Judge of the 153rd Judicial District in Tarrant County.

“Susan McCoy’s reputation precedes her. She’s an outstanding attorney and is an excellent candidate for State District Judge of the 153rd Judicial District,” says George Antuna, Jr., co-founder of Hispanic Republicans of Texas. “HRT is proud to endorse and support Susan’s campaign in Tarrant County.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of such an outstanding group that has successfully elected a number of conservative Hispanics to public office. I will use a conservative approach on the bench, using the Constitution as my guide in applying the law. If given the opportunity by voters, I will bring my years of experience to carry out justice in the 153rd District Court,” McCoy said of the endorsement from the Hispanic Republicans of Texas.

McCoy is a well-respected and successful attorney. She has earned Best Lawyers in Texas distinction from Fort Worth Magazine. She is an active member of the Metroplex Republican Women’s Association, Republican Women of North Texas, Republican Women of Arlington, the Fort Worth Republican Women, as well as a number of other Republican clubs. A licensed attorney for nearly 20 years, McCoy received her undergraduate degree in political science from Texas A&M University before receiving her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston School of Law. McCoy is a dedicated wife and mother of two.

“Hispanic Republicans of Texas is proud to endorse Debra Mayfield for Justice of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, Place 3.  H.R.T. is committed to supporting conservative, qualified leaders in races up and down the ballot,” said George P. Bush, H.R.T. Co-Founder. “Debra is a Republican leader who has the stature, experience and conservative credentials to serve Texas in the 14th Court of Appeals”.

About Debra Mayfield

Since completing a clerkship at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, Debra has been in private practice with a civil defense firm where she is a partner.  In private practice, she handles all phases of litigation for a wide variety of clients in state and federal courts.  A greater percentage of her practice, however, includes civil appellate work, wherein she handles post-judgment motions, traditional and interlocutory appeals, and original proceedings in Texas intermediate appellate courts, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Fifth Circuit, as well as courts in various other jurisdictions.  She also serves as court-appointed bilingual guardian ad litem and as a special commissioner in eminent domain proceedings.

Debra has served as president of the Mexican-American Bar Association of Houston and on the Advisory Board for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston.  She has been active in grass-roots Republican politics for many years, serving as precinct chair and election judge, chairing a committee in the Harris County Republican Party and by volunteering in local and state campaigns.  Debra’s husband, Eric, also shares her heart for service, as he is a former Captain in the United States Army.  Debra and Eric are the proud parents of two young children and are active members of Houston’s First Baptist Church.

AUSTIN, TX – The Hispanic Republicans of Texas today endorsed Ted Cruz for United States Senate to replace Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

With Hispanics representing 37% of the population of Texas, 48.6% of total students in public schools and 50% of the population growth, only a fraction are elected officials. With numbers comes a lot of power. Hispanics constitute the largest single growing community in Texas and have a profound impact on this state. They contribute to our economy as job creators, they contribute to the armed forces through their patriotism and they contribute to our democracy with their vote and public service.

AUSTIN, TX – State Representative Aaron Peña from Edinburg switched from the Democrat party to the Republican party today. The announcement was made at a press conference in Austin this afternoon.

In a welcoming statement, George Antuna, Hispanic Republicans of Texas co-founder, welcomed Peña to the Republican party. “Aaron Peña is a man of integrity who embraces our Latino values of hard work, economic freedom for our small business owners, family and faith.”

Republicans had won 99 seats in the 150 member Texas House in last month’s election. Peña’s move gives the Republicans a super-majority in the Texas House of Representatives.

Juan Hernandez, Hispanic Republicans of Texas co-founder added, “We welcome Representative Peña with open arms to the Republican party.”

Aaron Peña represents House District 40 in Hidalgo County in the Rio Grande Valley.
